Cruising Sea Of Cortez | San Carlos, Mexico

Come cruise the Sea of Cortez and explore all that it has to offer. Take a take a cruise around the bay for a view of San Carlos and it's surrounding coastline. Often times resident dolphins, seals and sea-lions can be sighed frolicking just offshore. There are many small islands nearby to explore.  For an up close look, take a dip with your mask & snorkel to see the beauty below. The Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California is one of the most rich and spectacular marine environments on earth — so much so that it inspired Jacques Cousteau to call it the “Aquarium of the World.

The wide range of sea water temperatures in the San Carlos area ranges from a low of about 62 degrees in January-February, and a high of about 90 degrees in July-August. Summer cruising weather in San Carlos is usually calm in the 90s with prevailing breezes from the south.

During the cooler months, from November to about April, the Sea of Cortez hosts many migratory species, such as the humpback whale, California gray whale, orca, manta ray and leatherback sea turtle, and the world's largest animal, the blue whale.

San Pedro Island, sometimes called Seal Island, is a small and rugged Mexican island in the Sea of Cortez. It is roughly 1 mile long and lies about 16 nautical miles west of San Carlos. The island is protected as a nature reserve where sea-lions, pelicans and other birds are abundant. On a calm day, the island can be reached in less than 1 hour. Often times while cruising to and from the island, dolphins play alongside the boat, manta rays can be seen flying out of the water and whales can be observed. A trip to Isla San Pedro is always an unforgettable trip, no matter if it's your first time or a return visit to explore all the beauty and marine life it has to offer.
